Just to share some tips for your upcoming English Paper
This time, we will be just focusing on
Comprehension Cloze
Comprehension Cloze is very challenging, especially for students who have a minimum number of vocabulary words in their word bank. To expend your word bank, simply one strategy - Read more books! =)
Here are some tips for you
1) Read the text at least TWICE! While reading insert AS MANY POSSIBLE WORDS into the blanks.
2) After your silent reading, time to draw inference from the different clues available. Clues are inserted in an orderly manner, meaning, the examiner will not anyhow set the blanks. Clues leading you to the answer can be found BEFORE AND AFTER the blank.
3) Have an open mind! Do not confirm your answers IMMEDIATELY! Try to think of as many possible answers. You can write them by the side using a pencil
4) After generating a few possible answers, it's time to check your grammar and sentence structure. Does your answer fits the sentence context? Or is your answer grammatically correct? Thus, at this step, you should be able to find your one and only answer! =)
5) Last but, not the least, after generating all the answers, its time to read again!Now, you are going to read that the whole passage still tells the same meaning with your answers. If the context of the passage has changed due to your answers, probably some of your answers are wrong and you may want to change them =)
